Workman, Strayhorn are NAIA Scholar-Athletes

CEDARVILLE, Ohio (5-15-2008) - Melinda Workman and Anna Strayhorn have been named NAIA Scholar-Athletes for the 2008 women's tennis season. The group includes juniors and seniors who maintain a minimum 3.50 cumulative grade point average.

Workman, a native of West Milton, Ohio, earned the honor for the second straight year. She recently graduated with a media communications degree.

Strayhorn is a junior from Falmouth, Maine. She is a Dean's List student as a graphic design major. [NAIA SCHOLAR-ATHLETES pdf]

Workman heads up NCCAA award winners

CEDARVILLE, Ohio (5-13-2008) - Melinda Workman was selected the NCCAA Sportsmanship Award winner to close out the NCCAA National Tournament in Marion, Ind. She was one of four Lady Jackets to be honored.

Workman was voted to the NCCAA All-America First Team in doubles and to the All-America Second Team in singles. She was one of 24 women to be recognized as an NCCAA Scholar-Athlete which includes juniors and seniors who maintain a minimum 3.40 cumulative grade point average.

Joy Kellogg was selected to the NCCAA All-America First Team in both singles and doubles. Alisa Rutt was chosen to the All-America First Team in singles for the third straight year while Olivia Dolph was recognized as an NCCAA Ministry Athlete. [NCCAA WOMEN'S TENNIS AWARDS]

Three Lady Jackets named All-AMC

CEDARVILLE, Ohio (5-12-2008) - Three members of the Cedarville University women's tennis team have been voted to the All-American Mideast Conference Team for the 2008 season.

Freshman Joy Kellogg was the only rookie to earn the honor in both singles and doubles. She posted a 10-6 mark at #2 singles and joined senior Melinda Workman for a 10-8 record at #1 doubles.

Senior Alisa Rutt was selected in singles for the fourth consecutive season. She assembled an 11-6 record at the #1 spot to finish 46-21 for her career.

Workman achieved the honor in doubles as her first time as an All-AMC player. She and junior Anna Strayhorn were recognized as AMC Scholar-Athletes. [ALL-AMC TEAM and ALL-AMC SCHOLAR-ATHLETES]
